MCC COPE & Climbing

Welcome to the home of the MCC COPE & Climbing Program - a component of the Mecklenburg County Council, Boy Scouts of America. The Council Headquarters are in Charlotte, NC with facilities at the Mecklenburg Scout Reservation (Camp Grimes) in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Belk Scout Camp in Midland, NC. We offer a complete package of opportunities to every range of Scout, from Cub Scout up through Venture Crew. Our facilities are open year round for scouting groups as well as non-scouting groups.

Help us provide that memorable experience for our scouting youth.
Our next training course is September 9 – 11, 2022 at Belk Scout Camp.
No prior experience required. Just a love for adventure and scouts!
You do not need to be an ASM or Den Leader.

VA-NC-SC COPE & Climbing Conference
March 11-13, 2022
This coming spring the first COPE & Climbing Conference covering councils and camps in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina will be hosted at the Mecklenburg Scout Reservation (Camp Grimes). Topics of discussion include the latest trends in COPE & Climbing across our councils, updates to NCAP, Belay On and the Climbing merit badge.

Climbing Level II Training

A huge shout out to the three scouters who came out for the Climbing Level II course this weekend. We had moments of cold and rain, but the sun shone through at the end as all three successfully completed the challenging course work with flying colors. The scouts in our council are fortunate to have such quality instructors helping us all soar to new heights.

We are pleased to offer the latest edition to our COPE & Climbing program - Mock Lead Climbing. Let us show your scouts how to take their climbing skills to the next level. Targeted at older scouts or those who have demonstrated a clear competency and interest in climbing. Leading adds a whole new dimension to the thrill of sending a route!
